The romance with the self that transforms the life

How to discover inner peace and happiness in arizona

The great master, Sri Aurobindo, said that ‘Romance and Love mean to discover the eternal moment in any individual, so that delight of existence can be experienced at every moment and grows constantly.

My master used to say, never fall in love but rise in love. The fall in love can happen anytime in the life of anyone. But when a person treads the path of Eastern Wisdom aims at self-discovery, he becomes a seeker. The seeker alone can rise in love. It is a journey in life where a seeker discovers eternal love deep within oneself.

The romance when we fall in love fades with the time. After a few days, weeks or months, we tend to blame others as if they are not the same as before. We forget that we too have changed. This forgetfulness in mind leads to incomplete knowledge about our true nature. The hiding of true nature by the mind, caused by the wrong notion and thinking in mind, is ignorance.

To do romance with anyone outside, we need to discover our true nature first. The journey to discover the self starts when we rise in love, the mind rise above the ‘feelings and sense of otherness,’ discovers inner peace and calm, and love. After this discovery, the person moves towards others in an attitude of self-giving. This attitude of self-giving builds an everlasting relationship. What Buddha calls as compassion and kindness, and Krishna says Bhakti-Yoga is rising in love, removing the wrong notion and awakening to inner romance.
If mind expects, craves and desires for love from others, it projects love as if present in others. The projection of love in others keeps mind agitated. Therefore, true romance is a romance with the self that hides behind the veil of ignorance.
